The goal in founding the School of Finance (SoF-HSG) of the University of St.Gallen is to create a concentration on activities in finance within the HSG. The School of Finance represents the finance activities both within the HSG and externally.

SoF Education Goals

SoF-HSG sets standards in education and offers the English-language Master in Banking and Finance (MBF) and the Ph.D. Program in Finance (PiF).
The MBF has a cohort of more than 400 students and has been ranked among the top 10 programs in finance worldwide since 2012 by the Financial Times.
The PiF prepares you for an academic career or an academic job in the field. The Ph.D. Program in Finance (PiF) is part of the Graduate Programme in Economics and Finance (GPEF).

First Place in the WirtschaftsWoche BWL ranking

In the current WirtschaftsWoche BWL ranking, the HSG has reached the number 1 position among the universities with the strongest research in the German-speaking region.

This is the fourth time in a row that our university has topped this ranking - after 2012, 2014 (until then the Handelsblatt BWL ranking) and 2018 - and by a clear margin. This highly gratifying result reflects the research performance of SoM and SoF in particular.

"Fit for Finance"

Twice a year, in spring and in autumn, we hold our seminar series which we adapt continuously to new developments on financial markets. This course is excellent for practitioners of banking, investment advice, financial analysis, risk management, securities and currency trading, auditing, commerce and other areas.
